Bio
My name is Dan Maliza. I was born on March 27, 1968. I am married to Ruth Tabile Maliza, since October 28, 1992. We have been blessed with 3 beautiful daughters.
In 1988, after completing my bachelor’s degree in Education, I worked with my father, Pastor Manuel Maliza, to plant a church in Tandag city. In the same city, I also went to the Evangelical Bible College to get a formal education in pastoral ministry. In 1991, when the church was established, I decided to pursue a career as a grade school teacher at the Christian school that my uncle started in Davao city. My uncle happened to be the president and pastor of the Temple of God Ministries International. While a teacher in his school, I was mentored in pastoral and church planting ministries to solidify the competencies that I grew up developing under my father’s apprenticeship.
In 1992, I got married to Ruth, the daughter of my parents’ classmate from the Bible College they attended. In the same year, my wife and I started a church in a nearby village under the leadership of my uncle, Rev. Joshua Maliza. Although employed as a full-time grade school teacher, I worked hard with my wife to establish that church. After 3 years of dedicated work, we responded to a call to pastor a bigger and a more established church in another city. We transferred the responsibility for the young church to another worker from my uncle’s ministry. In 1995, we started pastoring a church in New Corella, Davao del Norte. My wife, Ruth, also got a job as a public grade school teacher in the same city. I eventually became the chairman of the pastors’ association and a lecturer for the Moral Recovery Program and Family Values at the city hall and other governmental offices.
However, not long after, we felt that God was calling as elsewhere. In 2004, after 4 years of service in New Corella, we returned to Tandag city, Surigao del Sur, to help pastor the church that my father and I started in 1988. Due to health reasons, that year my father asked me to take over the pastoral leadership of the church, and I humbly accepted the responsibility. However, he never stopped preaching at church and holding Bible studies even in ill health. He has also continued to be my greatest mentor and ministry partner.
The Lord has faithfully grown the church not just in number, but also in the spirituality of every member. We have applied the principle of G-12 (Group of 12) discipleship in our church furthering my passion for evangelism and discipleship.
In Tandag city, the Lord has also blessed me with a ministry involving my fellow pastors. I served as the chairman of the association for 4 years until last year. Presently, I’m serving as the treasurer.
